Fall is coming!

So I went to take some pictures of a friend and her family this last week and I found an amazing spot for pictures...it is up Spanish Fork Canyon. It was great for family shots and older kids shots, and it will be amazing in a couple of weeks as the leaves turn red and orange. So let me know if you want a new family photo...it was beautiful and will get more beautiful. (because it is a little far the cost is $50) But the place is amazing and it will be worth it...I promise.

Karaoke..."I think I'm turing Japanese, I really think so"

Singing karaoke is so fun. If you haven't done it, you should, if you have done it and don't like it then you were singing with the wrong crowd and should try it again. We had a blast with a few friends of ours tonight, and let me say, you really get to know people by the music they pick! Fun, fun, fun.

Balsamic Vinegar and Beets

So, funny thing. Hannah is a wonder. She will eat things that I won't even touch. Now don't get me wrong I realize how lucky I am in this, as I know that plenty of kids won't eat anything new, if anything at all. Anyway, Hannah and I share a green pepper a day from our garden, she just munches down on the thing. She loves, horsey sauce, hot peppers and as of tonight beets. I can't stand beets, but Flavio loves them and so we grew some (okay a ton). We harvested our first beets yesterday and had salad tonight. We put a slice of beet on Hannah's plate just to see. At first it was a stern, "I don't like it!" but after she tried it in Balsamic Vinegar she fell in love, yes you heard me right she dipped it in the vinegar and went to town, in fact she dipped everything in the vinegar, her bread, her cucumbers, her chicken and she cleaned her plate. She truly is a wonder.

A little bit about Niki

So, I have noticed that everyone is really great at keeping a journal on their blogs. I am not sure i want to do that but here are a few tidbits about me that I am not sure you may know:

1. My favorite color is green and sometimes red (I guess it all has to do with the fact that I love Christmas)
2. I am an only child (my parents went through what Flavio and I are going through right now)
3. I was born in Ogden, Utah but grew up in St. George, Utah
4. I love dogs, but know how hard they are to have so we don't have one yet
5. I love being at home and with my family
6. My favorite time of day is when Hannah comes in to my room in the morning and says, "Morning Mama, are you happy?" (even though I hate mornings)
7. I love art, but have yet to find something I love to draw
8. I started skiing when I was six, but haven't been skiing for 7 years
9. I can water ski and knee board really well
10. I love watching football
11. I scrapbook when I can
12. My favorite restaurant is a place called "The Mandrine" in Bountiful, there is only one it is not a chain.
13. My favorite books are: "The Kingdom and the Crown" series and also "Children of the Promise" I also love "Harry Potter"
14. My favorite games are, "Boggle" and "Scrabble"
15. My favorite animal is an elephant ( I am not sure why, I have just always loved them)

Anyway, I thought this would be a fun little way to show you a little more about me.

Les Miserables

So I was able to go down to St. George this past weekend to celebrate my mom's birthday with her. It was just Hannah and me who went, while Flavio stayed home and had his own little vacation. Anyway, I had a wonderful time with my parents and they always are excited to see Hannah, as she is their only grandchild. My mom and I were able to see Les Miserables at Tuacan in St. George, if you haven't heard of Tuacan, I suggest you go next year. It is an outdoor theater, and it is amazing. Anyway, the production of this play was fantastic! I cried and clapped my little heart out. The singers were brilliant and I know that you would not find anything better in New York. So if any of you are planning a trip to St. George in the next couple of weeks (because it ends in a couple of weeks) you should go. Now keep in mind, this is Les Miserables, so it is not a kid friendly show. It is a classic, but it deals with adult themes. But if you can go, go. It was awesome!

Our new dining table!

So, we finally got a new dining table...we were never able to sit friends and family around our little table...so I sold that table on KSL about 3 weeks ago...we waited for the Labor Day Sales and went and found exactly what I wanted! I just love it. With the leaf it seats 8 people comfortably. I hope to be able to be to fill it with our children someday...but until then we will be able to fit more people around our table. Hooray!

Anyway, they delivered it yesterday and I love it!

Nails by Shamie

I had never had my toe nails done before, but I decided to have Shamie Emerson do them for me for our trip to Cancun(which was different from what I have in the picture) but then I had her do them for my sister-in-law's wedding, which was almost one month ago! Anyway, look how great my nails still look (if you get past the dry ugly feet part and just look at the nails). She did a great job and she is very affordable! If you ever need your nails done, have Shamie do them for you! If you need her info, just let me know.
